How to Replace the A/C Filter – Step by Step Guide (Pajero/Montero/Shogun 2001-2006)
|If you feel that the air coming out of your A/C is not cold as before, the easiest thing to check is the A/C filter.
If you drive a lot in dirt conditions, I would recommend to replace it once a year, if you don’t then just check it every now and then to see that its condition.
The work itself would take about 10 minutes, all you need is a new filter and a Philips screwdriver.
The Filter:
You can use that link to buy it on eBay (and support our site that way):

Let’s start…
Open the lower gloves box, insert your finger behind it, and push the rubber part that is circled carefully till it will be removed, there should be one more part like that on the other side of the gloves box.
After that, the gloves box will “fall” all the way down.
That is what you should see when it is down, unscrew those 2 bolts and pull the filter out.
Place the new filter and put everything back in place.
Enjoy the cooler air 🙂
Thank you,just changed mine.
It took 5 minutes and saved me a 150 shmeckels .I couldn’t believe how dirty the old filter was after a year.( that means that my baby is getting it’s play-time off road .)
My pleasure 🙂
My Pajero 2001 NM 3.5 V6 Petrol has no factory A/C filter. The filter slot is not separated from the housing. Can’t be opened. Still molded.
Can anyone tell me why Mitsubishi have done this?
I can only imagine how my evaporator must look…..
Hi,
I guess they wanted to save some $$$…
If you wish, I saw somewhere that people cut and opened a “filter slot” by themselves, as far as I remember, it should be pretty simple job.
If you’ll do it, it would be great to have some photos and instructions here 🙂
thanks
